Mexico, in addition to its incredible and varied gastronomy, is characterized by having different drinks in each region of the country. This time we will talk about the 2 most popular: the Tequila of Jalisco and the Mezcal of Oaxaca.

Tequila is the most representative Mexican drink in the world, and has become one of the great ambassadors of Mexican culture. It is a distillate originating in the municipality of Tequila in the state of Jalisco, Mexico.
It is made from the fermentation and distillation of the agave, in particular the so-called blue agave.
Tequila began to be produced in the mid-seventeenth century on an hacienda called Cuisillo, in the state of Jalisco. Today there are about 160 brands and 12 haciendas that produce it, giving life to one of the most demanded Mexican products abroad.

Legend has it that a thunderous lightning struck an agave plant, opening and baking its center. From the distance, the natives perceived the penetrating scent of nectar emanating and drank with fear the liquid, gifted by their deities.
Mezcal, like tequila, is made by the fermentation and distillation of an agave or various types of agaves; Which can be: espadín, tobalá, arroqueño, cirial, etc.
Currently, Mezcal has a "Denomination of Origin" and protects the production of this beverage in the states of Durango, Guanajuato, Guerrero, Michoacán, San Luis Potosí, Oaxaca, Puebla, Tamaulipas and Zacatecas. These are the only regions in the world which has the denomination of origin called mezcal, being Oaxaca the most representative.
