Taking care of México and the World

By: Regina Sámano

Today May 17th we celebrate World Recycling Day.

Did you know that recycling is a process by which waste is converted into new products?

Recycling prevents the disuse of potentially useful materials, reduces water and air pollution, reduces the consumption of raw materials and energy. It is a key component for waste reduction.

In Mexico, the waste shelter is 70% in sanitary landfills (place destined to the final disposition of the trash) and 30% in canyons, land and rivers.

The Metropolitan Zone throws more than 20 thousand tons a day and that makes it the 5th. place in the world, zone with more wastes.

Because our beautiful hotels are located in beautiful destinations (Cancun and San José del Cabo), we have below information about the pollution and the care that must be taken in these magical beaches.

The main cause of pollution of mexican beaches is the drainage that pours their sewage directly into the sea. Another cause is the misuse that local people and tourists give to our beautiful beaches.

There are many endangered species due to pollution such as sea turtle, seaweed (main organism of the marine food chain), vaquita and whales.

To keep taking care of our destinations we present a list of rules and recommendations:

1. DO NOT throw garbage. The aluminum cans, animals see them as shelter and get hurt or cut, just like the plastic bags ingest or entangle in it. 2. Do not take flora or fauna of the place, much less take species in danger of extinction. 3. DO NOT feed any wild animal. 4. Try to rinse with water, before entering the sea. 5. Use biodegradable sunscreen or bronzer.

In Hoteles Solaris de México we have several points that contribute in favor of the environment, among which we have:

1. NO to the use of STRAWS, since these are made of polypropylene, a plastic that is not completely biodegradable and / or recyclable. 2. NO to the use of BALLOONS for events, as these at the time of bursting, fall to the sea and are confused by jellyfish and several animals ingest it, becoming intoxicated, causing its death. 3. AVOID waste of water with washing towels DAILY.

Earth is 4.5 billion years old, but 140,000 years old with humans. In perspective let's say that 4.5 billion years is a full day, so 24 hours and time that the human here in total is only 3 SECONDS.

AND LOOK AT WHAT WE HAVE DONE!

We call ourselves HOMOSAPIENS, which means "wise man".

BUT ARE WE REALLY WISE?

We divide the atom and create great machines to travel the universe and thus find new homes but with the same atom, we create nuclear wars with which we destroy the home we have now.

THAT´S NOT WISE!

When intelligence speaks, wisdom listens. We DO NOT hear the cries of Mother Nature and we DO NOT see the help she needs.

WISDOM KNOWS THAT EVERY ACTION HAS A REACTION!

Now we have stronger rains, more droughts, hurricanes and forest fires so there is also more pollution, more coal and more logging. We have increased animal extinction. It is said that in 10 to 100 years we will no longer have: LIONS, RHINOCEROS, TIGERS, GORILLAS, POLAR BEARS.

ALL THAT IN 3 SECONDS!

Species that have more time than us on Earth will disappear because of us in only 3 seconds.

WE HAVE TO DO SOMETHING ... We are 1 in a million, we are perfectly located so the Sun does not burn us nor for the Earth to freeze.

WE ARE JUST WHERE WE HAVE TO BE!

Each species is genetically connected and this has to be recognized before it is too late.

The real crisis is not GLOBAL WARMING, neither for ENVIRONMENTAL DESTRUCTION, nor much less for ANIMAL AGRICULTURE ... WE ARE US!

It is our job to care for Mother Nature of those who do not want to see her beauty. Make the effort all together so that you can reach the 4th SECOND!
